Everyone had a wonderful time at our third annual Tutor and Student Potluck. The weather was great, and the location worked out beautifully. Thanks to one of our very generous volunteers for allowing us to use her property. It was a time for meeting new friends, relaxing, and enjoying tasty barbecue. Hope to see you at the next one!

Partners in English Language Learning recently held it's 2010 Tutor Luncheon. The location was Margaritas Restaurant, whose owner, Trevor Michael (a former PiELL Board Member) donated a delicious lunch. Around 30 of PiELL's Tutors came to enjoy the wonderful food and conversation. Judi Kreinick, our Board President, was unable to attend, so our Treasurer; Kathy Mollet acted as the facilitator for the afternoon. She also told everyone about the great new fundraising program we've initiated, called SCRIP.

After the lunch, we had a special guest; Marlee Chamberlin's student Gladys Hernandez. She shared some of her life experiences and some of the difficulties she's had. She was well received, and was the hit of the party. Tod Buis, a PiELL tutor and Student Evaluator, and new Board Member, gave a short presentation on the value of incorporating podcasts in your tutoring sessions.
